Data Engineer
Location: Flexible working arrangement, combining remote working with in-person attendance for team meetings, workshops, and key business initiatives.
About the Role
We're looking for a talented Data Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and improve our data landscape, delivering solutions that enable better decision-making across the organisation.
As a Data Engineer, you'll design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that transform data into valuable business insights. Working with both structured and semi-structured data, you'll develop reliable, efficient solutions that help teams access the information they need when they need it.
You'll collaborate closely with analytics colleagues and stakeholders across the business, translating requirements into sustainable data engineering solutions that support both current and future needs.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-quality data pipelines
Working with multiple data sources to unlock insights from complex datasets
Translating business requirements into robust, sustainable data solutions and architectures
Collaborating with analytics teams to ensure data products are accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose
Maintaining and enhancing our existing reporting infrastructure, which currently includes a mixture of Microsoft Access and Azure-based solutions
Creating clear documentation that makes data structures and processes easy to understand and maintain
Supporting improvements in data quality, accessibility, governance, and reliability across the organisation
About You
You'll be passionate about building data solutions that make a real difference and enjoy working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Essential Skills and Experience
Significant experience working as a Data Engineer (typically around five years or more)
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
Proven experience designing and delivering end-to-end data engineering solutions
Experience working with structured and semi-structured datasets
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
Desirable Skills and Experience
While not essential, we'd be particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience with:
Microsoft Azure data services
Microsoft Access and legacy reporting environments
Modernising, integrating, or transforming fragmented data and reporting systems
