Group Consolidation and Technical Accountant
Location: Bristol
This is an exciting opportunity to join Pennon Group’s dynamic Group Finance team at a pivotal time for the business. As we continue to deliver strong financial performance and navigate an evolving regulatory and accounting landscape, robust, high-quality financial reporting is critical.
We are seeking a technically strong Group Consolidation and Technical Accountant to support the delivery of Pennon Group’s consolidated financial results. The role sits within the Group Financial Control team and works closely with finance teams across the Group, supporting accurate consolidation, consistent accounting policies, and compliance with IFRS.
Key responsibilities
Support the production of Group consolidated accounts, including maintenance of the Group consolidation model
Assist in the preparation of Group consolidated statutory accounts at half year and full year, and statutory accounts for subsidiary companies
Support the implementation and application of consistent accounting policies across the Group
Analyse new and amended accounting standards and support their implementation
Prepare accounting judgement and technical papers for senior management and the Board
Support accounting for derivative financial instruments and hedge accounting, including preparation of compliant disclosures
Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to ensure correct accounting treatment is applied
Assist with audit planning and delivery during half year reviews and full year audits
Support the Financial Control team and wider Finance function on ad hoc projects and change initiatives
About you
Fully conversant with IFRS and confident taking the technical lead on new standards and complex accounting issues
Strong experience in group accounting, consolidation and restructuring
Comfortable working with a range of stakeholders across finance and the wider business
Well organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines
Likely to have trained in audit, with experience of large or listed group accounts
Qualifications
ACA or ACCA qualified
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Experience in consolidation and group financial reporting
